Multiport Selector Valve (MSV)
The Multiport Selector Valve (MSV) is an
engineering device that provides
a cost effective and compactmeans to improve production management and well
optimization. The EXACTA MSVallows the diversion of fluids from a single
flow line to a test outlet or a sampling device. A single MSV can manifold as
many as seven flow lines through it simultaneously. While one inlet is isolated,
the flow from the other six is combined into a separate group outlet.
This unique flow selector can be used in a
variety of oil and gas or process applicationseither as a standalone device or with a multiphase meter.
The MSV can alsobe used for water
injection for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) projects. It providescontrol
simplicity in an environment where size, weight and reliability are all
keyfactors. The EXACTA Multiport Selector VALVE reduces the costs of
installation, operation andmaintenance of the well test system throughout its
life cycle.
One single
MSV can be used as replacement of an entire arrangement of 2 or 3 way valves for
a test well
Selecting system, functioning as a compact manifold providing an easy and safe
way to select the wells you wish to connect to the Multiphase meter or to the
test Separator.
It has eight
(8) inlets to connect the production wells, and two (2) outlets: a standard one
for production and a selectable one for test purposes. This setup allows to
connect up to seven (7) wells, since one of the inlets remains free for field
resetting of the seal, and to avoid having a well being connected for test
purposes all the time. In this way, using the manual or the intelligent
positioning system of the rotor, you can direct each of the wells individually
to the testing outlet, while the remaining six continue their production through
the group outlet.
EXACTA Multiport Selector Valves are designed to deliver
economic test automation accompanied by straight forward simple installation and
control.
FEATURES
—
The compact design
of the EXACTA MSV reduces installation costs and the one basic moving part
reduces maintenance. The self-cleaning feature prevents build-up of scale,
paraffin and other deposits.
—
Also the EXACTA MSV
provides fewer sealing surfaces allowing less opportunity for leakage.
—
The
EXACTA MSV is offered as either a manual or an automated operation and the
automation can be added at any time.
—
With 8
inlet ports, the RSV can manifold up to 8 flow lines at one time. Its is a
compact manifold with reduced size and weight.
·
The MSV has a field adjustable seal, with stainless steel
scraper for extended service life.
·
The EXACTA MSV is especially suited for use with Multhipase
Meters.
·
Available with two-wire communication for remote control and
status indication
·
Constructed to applicable parts of API 599.
·
Reduces number of isolation valves in production/test
manifolds.
·
Operating temperature range:-20° F to +392° F (-29° C to +200°
C)
·
Available with a multitude of trims and surface treatments for
all operating environments.
CONVENTIONAL TEST MANIFOL vs. MULTIPORT SELECTOR
VALVE ARRANGE
The Multiport
Selector Valve Arrange consists ofgroup of pipes and secondary valves and
telemeters and one MSV.
The operational
heart of this equipment is the MSV, which has an Intelligent Actuator. All the
connections to the 7 inlets of the Multiport Valve, as well as for the 2 outlets
(Production and test), are mounted on an oilfield transporting skid. These
inlets and outlets are supplied with the corresponding, insolating valves, check
valves, pressure and temperature transmitter so therefore, when the assembly is
received in the field, it is ready for connection and subsequent operation;
no needs of painting, welding, or field testing on the site!!!
Some
noticeable features of this
configuration:
·
Modular, Compact and self-contained.
·
Low
maintenance.
·
No
concrete foundations required.
·
Moving, installing, commissioning and start up in 15 days.
·
Multiphase meter test on-line (
in-situ.).

SIZE AND ASME CLASS
The EXACTA MSV is available in different pipe sizes with a
choice of threaded pipe or ANSI Class 150, 300, 600, 900 or 1500 RF flanged
inlet/outlet connections. Teflon bearings ensure long life, eliminate
lubrication and reduce maintenance. Tapered roller bearings are available on
most of the models.

Actuator
The Actuator
consists of:
- A control system.
- Electric motor. (: 24VDC, 120-480VAC, 50-60Hz, Class 1, Div 2. Groups C y D )
- Human-machine interface.
- Network control Modbus
- Hazardous atmosphere enclosure,
- Continuous 360° driver
- Gear Box
- Manual Override
It combines
an exclusive solid state motor starter with control software to provide precise
positioning of the Multiport Flow Selector within +/- 1.5 degree of the selected
port, retaining that position even in the event of a power loss. The Actuator
provides configurable port selection from 2 to 10 ports; and a LCD display
indicates port number and when moving between ports, the port numbers on either
side.
Control is via local
selectors, remote mounted control station or a MODBUS network. Local operation
and the remote station control will index the ports up or down. MODBUS control
allows the desired port to be selected; the control intelligently choosing the
fastest path to the desired port position when in bi-directional mode. Each time
the actuator passes through port 1 the port positions will be re-synchronized to
ensure that there is no incremental positioning error.
The Actuator allows user to
select any port as home port or skip any unused ports. This actuator allows for field torque
adjustment while protecting the Multiport Flow Selector from excessive torque.
EXACTA MSV Actuator is
designed to operating in harsh and hazardous environments. A manual override is provided to operate the
MSV upon loss of power. The actuator is capable of working with a wide range of
voltages - three-phase, single-phase and DC.
